Pickleball warm-up for the kitchen line

Wake up your legs for the stop-and-go of the non-volley zone.

Most points are decided at the non-volley zone: a burst forward, a split-step, a stop, a lunge. Warm up for exactly that.

Two minutes: get warm

  • Easy jog around the court.
  • Ten bodyweight squats, slow on the way down.

Two minutes: the kitchen pattern

  • Walk from the baseline to the kitchen line and split-step. Ten times.
  • Side steps along the kitchen line, staying low.
  • Ten forward lunges, reaching for an imaginary dink.

One minute: hands ready

Dink with your partner, both at the kitchen line, before you start keeping score.

Wearing a strap? Put it on before the warm-up, so you can check it stays put during the split-steps.
